SOMETIMES MOVING ON MEANS MOVING IN

Pixie Marshall wishes every day she could turn back time and fix the past. But she can't. And the damage is done. She's hoping that a summer of free room and board working with her aunt at the Willow Inn will help her forget. Except there's a problem: the resident handyman is none other than Levi Andrews. The handsome quarterback was once her friend-and maybe more--until everything changed in a life-shattering instant. She was hoping to avoid him, possibly forever. Now he's right down the hall and stirring up feelings Pixie thought she'd long buried . . .

Levi can't believe he's living with the one person who holds all his painful memories. More than anything he wants to make things right, but a simple "sorry" won't suffice--not when the tragedy that scarred them was his fault. Levi knows Pixie's better off without him, but every part of him screams to touch her, protect her, wrap her in his arms, and kiss away the pain. Yet even though she's so close, Pixie's heart seems more unreachable than ever. Seeing those stunning green eyes again has made one thing perfectly clear--he can't live without her.

Song Meanings

Lightning Strike: This was the song I listened to while I was writing the final chapters of Best Kind of Broken. There’s a lot of rain and lightning in the book, and in the final scenes, Levi and Pixie’s relationship comes to a turning point in the middle of a storm. This song is about lightning striking down on a fleeting opportunity, and that’s precisely how Levi and Pixie’s story came to a close.

Summertime Sadness: I chose this song because it had a longing vibe to it. I felt like there was a lot of longing between Levi and Pixie—not just for one another, but for what they used to have—so this song really spoke to that.

Say Your Name: Oh man! This was my “everything is going to be okay I love you forever kiss me now” song. Haha. It’s kind of a declaration about keeping your promises and running toward the thing that saves you. Which is just about perfect for Best Kind of Broken. I listened to it while I was trying to figure out how to end the book and then bam! I was like, “Levi is going to go to her. He’s going to stand in the middle of the road like a lunatic and tell her he’s not going anywhere, ever again.” It really is an inspirational song.

Chelsea lives in Phoenix, Arizona where she spends most of her time writing stories, painting murals, and avoiding housework at all costs. She’s ridiculously bad at doing dishes and claims to be allergic to laundry. Her obsessions include: superheroes, coffee, sleeping-in, and crazy socks. She lives with her husband and two children, who graciously tolerate her inability to resist teenage drama on TV and her complete lack of skill in the kitchen.

I have had Chelsea Fine's books on my TBR for a short while now and I can really say that I am holding my head down in shame for not experiencing her earlier...
I had heard of how wonderful she was and was excited to find out for myself...but of course I didn't....
And now, here I am...ASHAMED....
I am slapping myself for you guys...
So, what does all this mean?  Well, I just finished Best Kind of Broken and all I can say is...
OOOOOMMMMGGGGG!!!!
Best Kind of Broken is an intense ingenuity of a novel.  I met the two main characters, Pixie and Levi, and immediately fell in to their world.  You connect with them instantly and as you follow their stories, your heart opens up for them; feeling their joys, pain, angst, and every other emotion you can think of.
Their tale is brilliantly written allowing you to know just enough to keep you intrigued all the while dropping little bread crumbs to the cataclysmic events that caused the discord in their lives.
ANNNND...when you finally come to that moment...*sighs heavily*
I just can't give you the words to describe how affected I am from all that these two went through.
It is truly something that you will have to experience on your own.
Best Kind of Broken has reached in to my soul and has taken up permanent residence.
A remarkable love story that compels your heart...provoking a storm of emotions from you...
I laughed, I got angry, I cried, and I rejoiced...Truly the signs of an epic novel when you can elicit a range of emotions from the reader....
I don't know if I can really do this justice...
All I know is that I loved this book...Pixie and Levi's story will forever be with me and I highly recommend that you read....EXPERIENCE this book to find out exactly what I am talking about...
